Three Random Thoughts And A Site Update
by Leslie
I signed up for the NaBloPoMo thingy, which means I’ve made a commitment to post everyday this month. I pretty much post daily already, but I’m feeling some pressure because now I’m committed to it. I’m not sure if it’s my inner rebel or my raging perfectionist that makes me uneasy with restrictions, but if I feel boxed in, I sort of freeze up. You know, like I did for the Week Of Lists. So, if you want to help a sister out, throw me some ideas for blog topics. I’ll try and oblige.
I’m a bit of a nicknamer. I love to hand out nicknames and have them for most everyone I know. The number of nicknames I assign to an individual is totally dependent upon how strongly I feel about them. The people I love and hate the most have the highest number of nicknames. If I haven’t given someone a nickname, they probably don’t exist in my world…or they have a nickname or even nicknames that I’m not willing to share, which means they probably don’t want to exist in my world because I don’t like them. Anyway, our kitty cat Katie is moving up in the ranks. Today, she received a new nickname: Squishminsterfullerene or Squishy Ball. She now has six nicknames which puts her firmly in the “number two” spot and that fits her just right.
Last night, I made a salmon quiche for dinner. Considering what a picky eater my husband is, I was more than amazed when he ate it and liked it! It took some convincing to get him to swallow the first bite. He tried every imaginable excuse, including “I can’t eat food that begins with the letter Q. It would derail my efforts to have it removed from the alphabet.” But after the first taste, he gave up the fight and admitted that given the chance, he’d eat it again. He even complimented me on it today. The next day. He liked it enough to remember to tell me it was good the next day. He is so getting lucky.
A new month begins today, so there’s some new stuff over at My Mommy’s Place. Take a look around. And while you’re there, won’t you please submit something? Come on. Let your love flow.

4 Cool Kids Came To Play

I signed up for NaNoWriMo. I was supposed to star today… But it just didn’t happen yet. I think I’m really bad with this kind of commitment. I just get busy, uninspired. The ultimate procrastinator…
And isn’t it just great when hubs like our food? Funny, as much as I try to tell myself that I’m not affected by his opinion, I so am. If he really shows interest in what I made, it can make my whole day…
“… The next day. He liked it enough to remember to tell me it was good the next day. He is so getting lucky.”
Note to self: Compliment the wife about something… anything, as soon as she gets home tonight.
“I can’t eat food that begins with the letter Q.” That sounds like something my boyfriend would say- but he would have REFUSED and had a bowl of cereal lol.
We are nicknamers, too! Our dog has, like, twelve. They are all completely ridiculous, and they would all embarrass me if overheard in public.
Good luck with NaBloPoMo…I debated whether to sign-up, but ultimately I realized that pressure tends to thwart my efforts rather than motivate me. I perform at my best when there are zero expectations.
My husband eats quiche, too! Sometimes, he even requests it. Like last night, after I botched a dinner of tofu “chicken” fajitas…
