Since Buckeye Season began, I’ve been churning out my sinfully delicious, chocolicious, fluffy peanut buttery goodies. Even though the requests keep rolling in, I am completely insecure. As sad as it sounds, a few well-timed insults from a few key people in my life pretty much shattered my confidence in any of my domestic abilities. Now, I’m often afraid the tide will turn and I’ll fall out of favor with my Buckeye-loving peeps. Everytime I send Dave off to work with deliveries, I’m nervous until he can tell me they were well-received.

Yesterday, when Dave arrived home, he ran up to the play room where I was giving Julia a pony ride to give me my feedback.

“Well, all the Buckeyes are delivered. That’s it until after Thanksgiving,” Dave said.

“Uh huh,” I grunted. Julia was laughing wildly, bouncing up and down on my back while I inched around the room on my hands and knees.

“Yeah. I have a few more requests for Christmas. It’s all written down.”

“Okay,” I said, slowing my pony pace. That play room floor is hard on the knees.

Julia squealed, “More! Faster. Go horsey!”

I stopped and bounced in place. Julia giggled and slapped my hip.

Dave said, “And, I have a request…if you can do it.”

“What’s that?” I asked, laughing with Julia.

“Well. Do you think you can ship them?”

“Huh?” I stopped bouncing and looked at him.

“Moooommmm! Don’t stop,” Julia protested.

“After I left work last week, on Friday, a group from Nashville was up for a meeting. I guess someone in the group tried one of your Buckeyes. He’d like two dozen,” Dave explained.

I was still for a moment.

Julia was impatient. “More, Mom. More.”

“Hold on, Jules. Get off,” I said as I slowly sat up on my knees and let her slide off my back.

“Do you think you can ship them?” Dave asked.

Julia walked around and sat on my lap. I wrapped my arms around her.

Dave asked, “Well, what do you think, honey?”

I was silent for a moment. I was thinking…about my Mama Grimmett’s Goodies dream.

“Leslie? What do you think?”

“I think that this.is.Awesome!!!” I raised my arms up in the air. Julia clapped her hands. Then, we both stood up and did a little dance while I shouted, “I AM THE BUCKEYE QUEEN! I CAN DO ANYTHING!”

Okay, so maybe I can’t do anything. But dammit, I can make Buckeyes!

I think Buckeyes have a nefarious scheme to conquer the sugar-world.

Crackheads and Texans say that Krispy Kreme donuts are the best, but they are all liars, whether they know it or not. Buckeyes rule the world!

Once the scheme is revealed, they will surely become a controlled substance.

Maybe you’ll become the next Nino Brown.

Plan on passing out turkeys to the tweakers and smackheads this year? ;)

And thus the Mama Grimmett Buckeye Empire was born! :)

You know, it does seem as though a lot of those baking businesses started out as one-woman operations. And almost all of those Food Network personalities seem to have started out of obscurity…

Hey now if you decide to start shipping those things I want to order them…I’ve never had them before but I’m more than willing to succumb to the addiction :D
