It’s Official!
by Leslie
Today, the doctor confirmed that I am pregnant. The baby is due around April 25, 2008. My love of even numbers tells me this is a very good thing.
I have my first ultrasound in about three weeks. (Or 19 days to be exact.) I’ll be glad to get to the ultrasound and see that little heart beating. It’s true that I’m a little anxious after my miscarriage earlier this year, but I think that’s natural. My gut tells me everything is okay. I’m gonna roll with that.
Now, names. We’ve picked names. “Already?” you ask. And I will tell you that when you’ve been trying to get pregnant for a while, you find the time to work this stuff out. Like after sex when you’re lying on your back and your husband is holding your legs in the air because you’re willing to do just about anything to help things along. You’ve got at least ten minutes of good talk time there.
Anyway…back to the names. We’ve picked names. Or, I’ve picked names.
If it’s a boy, Dave and I are in complete agreement that we will name him Jackson. Jackson John Grimmett. It’s really fabulous, isn’t it?
If it’s a girl, I believe with my whole heart that I will name her Lucy. Dave is trying with all his might to come up with a name I’ll like better than Lucy. He’s really cute about it all. He comes to me, filled with hope, certain there’s a winner in the list he’s compiled. One by one, I shoot them down with a sigh or an eyeroll until finally he throws up his hands and says, “So what? It’s gonna be a boy anyway!”
Julia also believes the baby will be a boy. She loves to touch my tummy, look into my belly button, put an ear against my skin and say, “Mom, he’s laughing! The baby is laughing! I hear him!”
As for me, I don’t have a feeling about whether it will be a boy or a girl. Right now, I’m just looking forward to that ultrasound and hoping for a heartbeat.

18 Cool Kids Came To Play

I love the name Lucy…. I named my second daughter Lacy, I love it too. Visions of you with your legs in the air….. hmmmmmm kinda reminds me of yesterday that does! Only mine were in the air for quite another reason… YIK YIK YIK ! Oh yeah, love the name JACKSON very very much too!
I was JUST saying today that if I had another boy (which, um, would be impossible after Cleatus’s vas, but whatever. I can dream.) that I would name him Jackson! I LOVE that name. Will you call him Jackson or Jack? I love both. I’m so happy for you guys, Leslie. And Lucy? Too. Freaking. Cute. Tell Dave to quit…he’s not finding a better name than Lucy. (Except for Piper. I do love Piper. Okay. Sorry. I had to give you the names of my imaginary children. I’m done now.)
That’s funny. He’s laughing. Julia has really good hearing.
Great names! Jackson is a strong name.Lucy is great too….I do love the name Madeline though.
I will leave any further ideas on Johns blog:)
Congratulations! I love, love the name Lucy. I taught a girl named Lucy and she was the most energetic, sweet, smart little thing. I adored her. So, I hope you have a girl (although I do adore the name Jackson, too).
[…] My Mommy’s Place has some good news to tell us. […]
Congrats Darlin’!! Hope all is well and stays that way. Double the pleasure, double the fun and almost twice as much work. Oh well, no pain, no gain! Good Luck and Hugs to you all!
Cute names!! I’m very happy for you.
Have you considered consulting the 93% accurate Chinese Calendar? … Because inquiring minds want to know. (http://www.fortunebaby.com/chinesegenderpredictionchart.html)
Also, I love that Julia can hear the baby laughing.
The Chinese Calendar says it’s a girl. It was right with Julia…
My nephew is Jackson John… and coincidentally enough last name Gwilliam. So, your guy will have the same initials! For the record, my nephew Jack is a wicked bright kid and a sweet and sensitive soul.
I am in full support of the name for your boy.
However, I must go on record here and say that I predict it is LUCY who is joining the Grimmett family in April.
I could be right you know…
I love the name Lucy. Have Dave watch While You Were Sleeping, and then have him read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe… Lucy rocks! And I, too, already have names for future children that I may or may not ever have… so it’s really not weird at all.
That is just wonderful news! And I love both names. DH and I were certain on the boy name and less so on the girl name, too. I wanted Emily and he didn’t, so we compromised on Emma. Of course, we had a boy, lol!
CONGRATULATIONS!!
I love the name Lucy and every Jackson I’ve known has been an awesome kid. I don’t think it’s weird that you already have names - we had our son’s name picked out before he was conceived. Hubby was REALLY picky about girls’ names though. Maybe it’s a man thing?
Great names! I always thought that picking out names would be so much fun but it can be really stressful. It’s good that you are thinking of them now so that you can give them a good long test drive before the baby is born.
The time leading up to the first ultrasound is so hard. I think that you have a great attitude about it all.
Congrats!!! I am so happy for you and I love your names.
I have always been partial to the name Vladimir… even for girls!
Do you want to know what an ass I am? I’ll tell you anyway. I freakin’ missed this post in my bloglines. Which means I didn’t know you were pregnant. For nearly three weeks. I’m so dumb. I mean, seriously. How could I have missed this??????
Congratulations!!!
