Just Some Advice
by Leslie
If, on your second day home from the hospital after having a c-section, you are feeling really, really good and a little voice in your head says, “Pain killers, schmain killers. Who needs those?” and tries to convince you to stop taking them, DO NOT LISTEN. Because that voice is evil.
You see, pain killers are kind of useful. They do this thing where they kill the pain you’re feeling. Sometimes they are so good at it, your body forgets it’s even having pain, then has stupid ideas like skipping on the pain killers. And cleaning. And carrying stuff up the stairs. Then, the next day you wake up with gut-wrenching pain and you roll from side to side like a turtle on its back because you just can’t seem to bend enough to get out of bed and your husband stands there holding your newborn child saying, “Told ya so.”
So, I’m back on the pain killers and plan to take advantage of the time off the rest of my remaining guest bloggers are providing me. (Thanks you guys!)
Meanwhile, there’s this:

There wasn’t quite enough room in his lap for me.

Are you sure that’s a newborn and you didn’t pull a Suri Cruise switch? I mean really she looks two months old and that gorgeous hair!
Just kidding, Li’l Man was big too at 10 lbs. 1 ounce (no epidural thank you very much asshole anthesiologist prick) and had blond hair just like that. Little Dude needed a haircut minutes out of utero. People were alway guessing he was 4 months old.
Okay, you did a great job, so stop trying to be super mom, m’kay? Enjoy this. Sleep. Rest. You’ll soon realize that it takes longer to snap-back after every delivery and more importantly after every addition to your family. Take this time while little Lucy is immobile to recover.
Leslie… carrying things up the stairs?? Please take care of yourself! Huge hugs. And the girls (and Dave) are just adorable in that pic. And rest, Mama, rest when you can!
Leslie John Grimmett! (Ha. I feel like your mother. Except, I’m not 100% sure thats your full name? I know its the girls…but you too? Yes?) No carrying stuff up steps, no cleaning, no MOVING unless it is to drive yourself to the post office to mail me the pain killers you think you don’t need. I love pain killers. I am confused as to why you would not want to take them. They are EVEN BETTER when you aren’t actually in pain. Dumbass. (Said with love, I assure you.)
I love the pictures. Keep ‘em coming.
Leslie! No lifting! Seriously! Need more exclamations?!?!
What a sweet pic though, brought a little tear to my eye.
Awww Lucy looks TINY on her Daddy’s chest! Adorable photo.
As the other ladies already mentioned……NO LIFTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously…..you don’t want to complicate things.
Rest & get waited on while you can.
The only thing you may lift is your camera:)
Gorgeous photo!
I shall be careful to heed your advice in the future.
Girlfriend, didn’t I tell you to use the painkillers for a while? Look, I hoarded my c-section pain killers too, but not after three days! You can start saving them after ten days, okay? TEN. TEN. Did you get that? I said TEN. Sheesh - you’d think you were too tired and busy to listen to me or something.
Hope you’re feeling better. I hated the vicodin and cut back and off ASAP. The tylenol 3 did the trick without making me feel totally stoned.
Totally precious picture!!!!
What an awesome photo! I could use some painkiller for my back. It went out on me on Saturday.
I love them girls…
Are you sufficiently drugged then? Just checkin’.
Beautiful girls. And yeah, the painkillers are definitely necessary. It’s so hard to recover from surgery and take care of a newborn at the same time, so do whatever you need to do to take care of yourself.
Take the medication! Stop the lifting, you don’t want to end up like me with adhesions that need a laparoscopy two years later to cut them. Silly me finished the medication and was in horrible pain. Only took me three days to figure out the bottle had a refill! Ah, the sweet relief.
I wish I could have told you that ahead of time. My wife and her C-section was a touch recovery, don’t get frustrated and do too much, it will only prolong your time recovering.
Leslie, so happy for you guys! Congratulations again!
