Lucy's foot in Julia's hands

Lucy’s foot in Julia’s hands

Julia calls her “my baby.” If Lucy makes a sound, she comes running from wherever she is calling, “My baby needs me!” She helps with the diaper changes and baths. She speaks to her softly and touches her so gently. Her face lights up when their eyes meet and she says, “She sees me!” I expected her to be jealous or feel threatened. If anything, the birth of her sister has made her more loving and confident. The role of big sister fits Julia perfectly. And all that worrying I did during my pregnancy is slowly being erased with each declaration of, “I love my baby sister. She’s the best baby in the world.”

Oh, Leslie, this is not just a tribute to Julia, but to you and Dave as well. Congratulations on having two such lovely young women in your home. ;-)

Oh, this made me cry. I’m so proud of Julia (yes, I know thats weird). That picture is so sweet, too.

The bond is phenomenal isn’t it? What a lovely capture of the two of them in this photo and yes, a lovely snapshot of the two of them in your words.
    Ah, me.

    Sweet post, gorgeous photo.

Reminds me of when my oldest was three and our second was born.
Whenever she’d cry, he’d giver her his “magic kisses” and the crying would usually stop.
There is nothing like seeing your children love each other.
    Must be how God feels.

Great photo, Leslie. Definitely one for a worthy frame and a place up on a wall. Fantastic. I could definitely see that photo on the front of say, a loving and encouraging greeting card from one sister to another. Beautiful.
Julia is amazing. Your words really make me think about how much I missed by not having a sister. Thankfully now, I have honorary sisters in my life and I hope we can hold each other and care for each other like J&L.

That is just beautiful. So pleased that Julia adapted so well.

  9. Suzanne on May 5, 2008 3:20 pm

I may just die of the preciousness.

I’m so happy for you that your family is adjusting so well. Julia is such a sweetheart… good for her for being such a great big sister and helper. I still feel all gooey in my heart when my kids are sweet to each other. Wow, and the picture??? Great work, Leslie!

Every Momma’s dream! So sweet! I think if the time ever comes for us, Jaxon will be the same way. My niece, not so much. Most of the time she is great with her baby brother but there have been some scary moments and my Sis can’t trust her enough to be in the same room with Mason if she is not right there.

What a gorgeous picture. You definately need to frame that one.
