Last night I sent Dave off to work with a freshly shaved head, a batch of homemade peanut butter cookies in his lunch and a naughty note in his overnight bag. He wasn’t due home until Sunday, so I wanted to make him miss me. Cookies and erotica usually do the trick. But here I sit, eating those cookies with my husband in bed and not in the sexual sense at all, because he’s got a flesh-eating bacteria devouring his leg. Almost. He has cellulitis. Again.
It came on really fast. He was fine when I kissed his bald spot good-bye and he only began to feel tired and achy around 1:42 a.m. when I called to tell him I had Elfed Myself. Twice.
By 3 a.m. he had a fever and a rash and by 6 a.m., it had gotten pretty serious. Of course, I didn’t realize it until I met him at the doctor’s office. I mean, you know how men can be*. He didn’t sound that bad on the phone. But my poor little bunny was looking pretty rough when I finally saw him.
The doctor prescribed some heavy duty antibiotics and drew a big circle around the rash. If the rash expands outside the circle, I have to take him to the hospital.
So, I’m playing nurse, which might be fun if he weren’t so sweaty and gross from the fever. Anyway, I’m mostly just cramming yogurt in his gob so he doesn’t get bloody diarrhea from the medicine, elevating his leg, applying warm compresses and watching that rash like it’s the last doughnut in the box, but less tasty, obviously, and there’s nothing sexy about that, even in a g-string.
**Title inspired by this* and the killer rabbit scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Oh, my! Happy and medicated thoughts being sent your way!!
They worked. He was back on his feet in about two days.
Poor Dave. I hope he feels better!
I knew he was better when he started getting annoyed with how little he was being coddled.
OOOO I hope poor Dave gets better soon, surely with your LOVING ministrations he will!
He wasn’t down and out for long. I take full credit for his recovery.
Feel better, Dave!
It didn’t take him too long to feel better. He milked it for an extra day, though.
That’s not fun, feel better soon Dave. Nurse Leslie will have you feeling like a million bucks asap
The worst part was that he had to work on all of his off days the following week to avoid losing his Christmas vacation for the time he took off sick. That was worse than the actual illness, I think!
Oh dear, poor Dave. Having just recovered from a pretty yucky bacterial skin infection myself I feel from him. Hope he’s all better soon.
He is much better. Although the soreness from the infection lasts a while.
Oh boy. Sounds sexy
.
Totally sexy.
Hope he’s feeling better!
He’s all better now. Thank goodness! Playing nurse isn’t as fun as it sounds.
Yikes, doesn’t sound fun. Spreading rashes can be so scary and painful. I hope he’s better now
He’s all better now. Hopefully it doesn’t come back. This is the second time he’s had it!
