A Bedtime Story Haiku
by Leslie

so the night fairies may come
and sprinkle dream dust
they swing from your hair and have
picnics in your ears
and take cat naps in the curl
of your eyelashes
they tangle your hair and leave
their crumbs in your eyes
about magic and secrets
only kids can know
and let the night fairies come
to give you sweet dreams

oh help, it’s effective, dozing off again…..
just what I needed on the first working morning of the new year when the alarm goes off apparently in the middle of the night. Yawwwn.
Awesome Leslie! You should write a children’s book about that.
This is so fabulous. I love the whole of it.
Beautiful poem. Precious photo!
Absolutely magical!! LOVE the Haiku!!!!!!!
You are very good at writing these long linked haiku!
I enjoyed it.
Oh no! My alarm pisses me off when it goes off at the right time, so I can’t imagine how mean I would be if it went off early.
I have a secret dream where I write a children’s book and my mom does the illustrations. She’s actually quite an amazing artist.
Thank you. I have to credit my kids for demanding made up stories after the lights go out.
Thank you. I love to trace a path with my finger all over her face while I tell her stories about the night fairies. I can’t resist her sweet little face! It puts her right out. Julia has always been the same way, too.
Aw, thank you. I actually love it, too. It makes me think of my girls. It feels like that moment they drift off to sleep and it’s quiet, still and dark. I love it.
Thanks! I enjoyed writing it. I could have gone on, but I was facing my midnight deadline!
oh it was going off at the right time
it just felt as if it was the middle of the night due to the first working day after 2 weeks of lazy time at home.
and oh yes, it did piss me off
That’s beautiful.
Thank ya!
