This Is Motherhood by Georgina John, June 2008

Toothless grins
Soft sighs.
I could hold you forever.
Sleepless nights.
Crawling, standing, running.
Coughs and colds
Worrisome boo boos
Is that a rash?
OUCH!.
Kiss it Mommy!
Tears.
It’s ok.
Growing up and up
Can I go to school?
Sack lunches and chocolate milk.
New clothes.
Umbrella fights.
LICE????
Show and Tell.
Mommy—I will never leave you.
Can I have…a fish, a hamster, a kitten, a puppy???
Moving.
Tears.
New school, friends.
Riding the bus.
Will you be my friend?
Am I pretty?
Why don’t they like me?
I’m different…
Why does it hurt so bad?
I thought we were friends.
Finding out what works.
I’m a band nerd, volleyball player, cheerleader, flag twirler, good friend!!!
Can I date?
I’ll be careful.
Graduation!
College…moving out and on.
Life isn’t as simple as it was.
Will it always hurt?
I found him.
Joyful tears.
Troubles come and go.
He stays.
It will be ok.

Guess what!!!
I’m pregnant.

Toothless grins…….
